Kan. sheriff's K9 found couple transporting methamphetamine

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations.

Just before 5a.m. April 28, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted  a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee at 106th and U.S. Highway 75  near Hoyt for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

During the traffic stop, a Jackson County Sheriff K-9 detected the presence of illegal drugs and or narcotics within the vehicle. A probable cause search resulted in locating drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle Spencer H. Small, 48, of Topeka, was arrested on requested charges for for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended 3rd or subsequent, driving while habitual violator 3rd or subsequent, no vehicle insurance, and no vehicle registration.

The passenger Cindia Dianne Cott, 57, of Topeka, was arrested on requested charges possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
