COWLEY COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 4p.m. Tuesday in Cowley County.
A Brush Hog riding lawn mower driven by 82-year-old George Hawkins Jr., of Arkansas, was traveling in the north ditch in the 13000 block of 212th Road, according to Sheriff Dave Faletti.
The mower’s front wheels dug into the mud and overturned onto Hawkins pinning him to the ground.
Several Good Samaritans stopped, called 911, and were able to get the mower off Hawkins. Life saving measures were administered by Deputies and taken over by Winfield EMS. EagleMed was requested to launch and land at the scene. Prior to EagleMeds arrival Winfield EMS transported Hawkins to William Newton Memorial Hospital. Hawkins was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
