JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for allegedly contaminating food.

On April 25, the Leawood Police Department received a tip that a Leawood restaurant may have someone intentionally contaminating food.

Police immediately began an investigation that led to the Hereford House, 5001 Town Center Drive in Leawood, where detectives spoke with restaurant management to identify a suspect 21-year-old Jace Christian Hanson of Kansas City.

On Monday, Hanson was charged with food adulteration, according to the Johnson County District Attorney's office. The alleged crime occurred between March 26 and April 25.

Customers who ate at the steakhouse between those dates and experienced health issues are to contact Leawood police.

Hanson is scheduled for a court appearance on May 2, according to the district attorney's office.
