Jeanette was the epitome of class and grace and taught those around her to hold their heads high and was a mother and grandmother to all. She toggled party lines but was always thoughtful and decisive in her decisions. She was the first and leading feminist in her family and did so with grit and determination. While these words will not do her justice, we hope she approves.

Jeanette Vaught Gibson, 86, of Alma, left this earth on August 31, 2022. She was born December 27, 1935, in Anadarko, OK to Bud and Pearl Vaught, along with her twin sister Jeanelle. She was lucky enough to live through her twinship in the embryo. She was the youngest of five children.

She was the mother to Rise Diane, Kathleen Roxanne, Terry Lee, and William Buck, and stepmother to Debra Kaye, Rick Dean, and Rondal Scott. They moved to WaKeeney, KS in December 1969, and she was a schoolteacher there for 35 years. She loved golfing, playing gin and bridge with friends, and gardening. She enjoyed traveling across the United States to visit her sisters. Some of their most enjoyable years were spent having barbecues poolside with friends and family.

In 2008 Jeanette and Harold retired full-time to Lake Wabaunsee where they made numerous friends.

She continued to golf, spend time with her friends and family, tended her garden and rose bushes, and fully enjoyed a well-deserved retirement. In her free time, she also loved painting and writing.

&nbsp;She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bernard, her sisters Barbara and LaVerne, the love of her life, Harold, her beautiful daughters Kathleen and Debbie, and her son Scott.

&nbsp;She is survived by her daughter Rise, her sons Terry (Dona), William, and Rick (Kandi), 11 Grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and her handsome, tuxedo-wearing cat, Jack.

&nbsp;She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through them.

Mary Catherine Brunk, resident of Alma, KS passed away in her home on Monday, August 29th, 2022, at the age of 76.

Mary is survived by her children; Steve Buero, Kenny Buero, Christine Yoakum, Mikey Buero, and Michelle Patwell; (12) Grandchildren, (5) Great Grandchildren. Mother-in-law, she was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Buero, late husband Michael Brunk, and Mother Mary Harsh.

Mary was born in Tubingen, Germany on November 15th, 1945, she became a US citizen in 1957 residing in West Allis WI., where she was a waitress and bakery manager at Moyers bakery until 1976, then moving her family to California.&nbsp; &nbsp;Mary enjoyed spending her time with her grandkids and gardening.&nbsp; Mary and Mike moved to Alma, KS in 2011.&nbsp; They enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the sunrise and sunset on their porch.&nbsp;

John C. Wright, 86, formerly of New York City, died Aug. 27, 2022, in Wamego, where he had lived the past two years. He had fast developing cancer.

He was born June 26, 1936, in Alliance, Neb., the first child of John and Corinne (McNare) Wright. Following high school graduation in 1954, he attended Chadron (Neb.) State College before transferring to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his B.A. in business in 1958. He served three years in the Navy as a supply officer and then moved to New York City where he worked in business and finance. In his last job he compiled the Best Sellers List for The New York Times.

John is survived by his sister Penny (Norris) Wika of Wamego, his sister-in-law Cleo Wright of Lincoln, Neb., two nephews, five AFS nephews and numerous great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Wright. John requested that no funeral service be held. He will be buried in Drexel Hill, Pa., where he owned property for many years.

The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

A graveside service with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Manhattan, KS. After his retirement, he was employed with U.S.D. #475, Geary Community Hospital, and Burch's Recycling and Salvage. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and bird watching. Dorothy Parry received her gift of eternal life on August 27, 2022, surrounded by her children at her home in Morganville, Kansas.

Dorothy was born on the family farm South of Palmer, KS on January 22, 1927, to Emil and Emma (Meyer) Ohlde. She enjoyed her childhood on the farm with her older brother, Elmer, and older sisters, Edna and Florence.&nbsp; She was baptized on January 30, 1927, and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Palmer, KS. She attended St John’s Lutheran School and later the Wichita Business College in Wichita, KS. After completing her schooling, she worked at Union State Bank in Clay Center.

On December 4, 1949, she married Floyd Parry. They started their married life on a farm South of Clay Center and in 1956 moved to a farm North of Morganville. In 1983 they moved to their five acre beautifully landscaped property in Morganville. Dorothy was a wise, patient mother to her eight children and a hard-working partner to Floyd on the farm. In addition to caring for her family, she drove a school bus route and an overnight mail route for the post office - sometimes both on the same day.

She lived her life centered around her Christian faith. She was a faithful, active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. Over the years she taught Midweek school, Sunday school, Vacation Bible school and was a member of Friendship Circle. She was a good friend to her neighbors and an involved member of her community and her local Lions Club. Dorothy enjoyed flower gardening. Her park-like yard has been the location of the Easter egg hunts in Morganville since 1985. She always used the Easter egg hunts to share the message, ‘He is Risen.’

Dorothy’s home in Morganville was the perfect place for many family gatherings, where all family and friends felt welcomed and loved. She always remembered the birth dates, baptism dates, and wedding anniversaries of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a closet full of dress-up play clothes, toys, and a playhouse in the back yard for the children. Dorothy genuinely enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Floyd; son, Curt; son-in-law, Layne Harris; sister, Edna, and her husband Gerhard Wiemers; brother, Elmer, and his wife, Mabel; and sister, Florence, and her husband, Ted Meyer.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Virgil) Gordon, Coleen (Paul) Sallee, Clarice (Royce) Ohlde, Craig (Terri) Parry, Cathy (Jim) Jones, Chris Bullard, Clay (Kelly) Parry, daughter-in-law Mary Parry, 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy dedicated her life to her Lord and her family. She will be missed by her family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing she will be wrapped in the love of Christ for all eternity.

Kenneth L. Girard, age 83, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Homecare &amp; Hospice, Manhattan, Kansas. He was born on June 24, 1939 in Vermillion, South Dakota to Alphonse and Delma (Ribordy) Girard.

He was a 1957 graduate of Clyde High School, Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp; He then received his degree as a Master Barber from the Kansas School of Barbering. He owned and operated his own barber shop in the Ogden Community.

Kenneth joined the United States Army in 1961 at Ft. Hood Texas and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.&nbsp; At Ft. Hood Texas he was a combat medic in the Armor Division. After returning home he continued his service with the US Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1967.&nbsp;

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ogden, Kansas; The Jolly Mixers Dance Club; American Legion and VFW of Manhattan where he served as past post commander of Post #1786; Also a lifetime member of Abate of Kansas District # 15.

Kenneth hobbies included dancing, billiards, and dumpster diving looking for treasures.&nbsp; He loved riding his motorcycle and made the long ride to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally more than 28 times.

Kenneth is survived by his two sons, Lance Girard, Lago Vista, TX; Todd Girard, Lago Vista, TX; three grandchildren, Jaden, Kassady and Logan Girard; a brother, Lawrence “Jim” Girard (Charlotte), Manhattan, KS;

Jackson "Mighty Mouse" Wade Noveroske blessed this earth with his presence at 5:56&nbsp; a.m. on February 2, 2007, completing his family and joining his parents, William and Hedy Noveroske, big sister Kelsey Salmon (Gabe), little big sister Karrah Bailey and big brother John Noveroske. Jackson’s passion for fishing began at a very early age with his patience developing sometime later. His Dad, brother, Grandpa Corby, Uncles Johnny and Jesse, cousins Hayden and Lakin and his dog “Charlie Wiggles” were his favorite fishing buddies. Before the sun rose and into all hours of the night, he would fish in the cove behind his house or the rock ledge behind his grandparent’s house. Jackson didn’t need to be taught how to fish. He would try everything in his unique and unorthodox bag of tricks to catch a catfish, bass, crappie, wiper, or whatever managed to find its way on the end of his line saying, “I told you so” whenever anyone questioned his fishing ways. His favorite to catch and reel in was a big ole blue cat. When he wasn’t fishing, the Tree of Life behind Grandpa and Grandma’s house is where you would find him. Summer to Jackson meant "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset repeat”! Jackson loved to do anything and everything outdoors. You would find him climbing trees out in the woods or right next to the house, shooting his BB gun, bow or makeshift rigged homemade weapons. Jackson loved sitting in the woods and watching the birds, wildlife, and just being out in nature. He developed a passion for hunting squirrel, turkey and deer. He got his first buck and turkey this past year and boy was he so very proud! ‘Hunting, fishing and loving every day” pretty much summed up what Jackson was about. He was passionate and kind and tried to save injured animals that made their way into his back yard. It didn’t matter whether it was a bird, squirrel, dog or cat; he wanted to help it heal. He loved feeding the birds in his backyard, his fish in the family pond or just sitting out on the deck listening to the locusts, crickets, and watching the lightning bugs. He was a gentle, kind and caring soul that appreciated everything in God’s creation. You could always find Jackson barefoot. His family could never figure out how a splinter could get pass his calloused feet from time to time, because he refused to wear shoes and socks. Running a 3k road race for his Milford Elementary school while barefoot was no big deal to him along with finishing first. His elementary teachers would reward him with not having to wear his shoes in class instead of a free pencil or piece of candy for those special “caught ya” moments. Jackson began his love for soccer watching his Dad coach his older siblings. He learned and developed his skills and knowledge for the game with the Milford Parks and Recreational team. Jackson moved on to travel league at the age of 8yrs playing on the Flint Hills Stingrays team. He continued to play on numerous club teams until 2021 when he played his final soccer game for the Danger FC Soccer Club. It was during his Stingray playing days that Jackson got his nickname “Mouse." During one of his many tournament games there were multiple “Jackson’s” out on the field. His Mom decided that he needed a nickname so he could tell when she and family were cheering him on. And because he was quiet and soft spoken, so very quick on and off the field, climbing everything he could, along with the fact that when he got excited, he literally squeaked, his mom gave him the nickname, Mouse. His “Mighty Mouse” name came on November 24, 2020, when Jackson was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His favorite vacation place was Florida along the Emerald Coast. He loved spending time on the beach with all his family and trying to catch fish he had never caught before. He was adventurous and liked trying new things like skim boarding, crabbing, snorkeling or just walking along the beach searching for things that washed up on the shore. He loved watching the dolphins and the spectacular sunsets along the coasts. Jackson loved his Grandma’s porcupine meatballs and homemade chicken and noodles. He couldn’t wait for grandpa’s ham during holiday feasts, his dad’s fried rice and mom’s breakfast meals and lasagna were a comfort to him while at home. His favorite drink was Arizona sweet tea or the Arnold palmer, half tea/half lemonade. Almond Joy, Milky Way, and Hershey’s chocolate with almonds were among his favorite candy bars. His favorite ice cream was rainbow sherbet. His favorite color was green. Jackson was a true warrior. He was resilient, strong, tough, and able to tackle anything that he came up against. He was kind and patient with all his younger cousins and niece. He absolutely relished the fact that he was Uncle Mouse to his most favorite little girl, Charlotte Faye. When he wasn’t able to be home or with other family, he would turn to his Xbox where he could talk, yell and scream and get so excited with his friends and gaming buddy, Jenson, playing his Xbox. Jackson completed his elementary school years as a Milford Laker at Milford Elementary School and continued through his middle school years as a Junction City Middle School Wildcat. Jackson was to begin his sophomore year as a Blue Jay at Junction City High School and was looking forward to getting back on the soccer field to play alongside his brother and friends. His favorite part of the school day…the end of the day bell. His earthly journey is over, but an eternal, peaceful, loving journey with the Lord God and all his loving relatives that preceded him is his to make. He will truly be forever missed and forever in our hearts.  </figure>Jackson "Mighty Mouse" Wade Noveroske blessed this earth with his presence at 5:56&nbsp; a.m. on February 2, 2007, completing his family and joining his parents, William and Hedy Noveroske, big sister Kelsey Salmon (Gabe), little big sister Karrah Bailey and big brother John Noveroske. Jackson’s passion for fishing began at a very early age with his patience developing sometime later. His Dad, brother, Grandpa Corby, Uncles Johnny and Jesse, cousins Hayden and Lakin and his dog “Charlie Wiggles” were his favorite fishing buddies. Before the sun rose and into all hours of the night, he would fish in the cove behind his house or the rock ledge behind his grandparent’s house. Jackson didn’t need to be taught how to fish. He would try everything in his unique and unorthodox bag of tricks to catch a catfish, bass, crappie, wiper, or whatever managed to find its way on the end of his line saying, “I told you so” whenever anyone questioned his fishing ways. His favorite to catch and reel in was a big ole blue cat. When he wasn’t fishing, the Tree of Life behind Grandpa and Grandma’s house is where you would find him. Summer to Jackson meant "Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset repeat”! Jackson loved to do anything and everything outdoors. You would find him climbing trees out in the woods or right next to the house, shooting his BB gun, bow or makeshift rigged homemade weapons. Jackson loved sitting in the woods and watching the birds, wildlife, and just being out in nature. He developed a passion for hunting squirrel, turkey and deer. He got his first buck and turkey this past year and boy was he so very proud! ‘Hunting, fishing and loving every day” pretty much summed up what Jackson was about. He was passionate and kind and tried to save injured animals that made their way into his back yard. It didn’t matter whether it was a bird, squirrel, dog or cat; he wanted to help it heal. He loved feeding the birds in his backyard, his fish in the family pond or just sitting out on the deck listening to the locusts, crickets, and watching the lightning bugs. "Joe" Leiss, 75, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; A graveside service with full military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. Joe was born July 30, 1947, in Ohio the son of Carl E. and Martha E. (Magato) Leiss. Joe served in the United States Army retiring in 1974. After his retirement, he owned and operated Riverside Bar and Grill, Ann's Place and Chowon Restaurant all in Junction City, KS. He married Ann Lee Leiss on July 1, 1989 in Junction City. Survivors include his wife Ann of the home; two sons, William Anderson of Junction City, KS and Eddie Leiss of NC; one daughter, Anna Perez of Denver, CO; one brother, Donald Leiss of Bellefontaine, OH; three sisters, Pat Stewart of Sydney, OH, Linda Mann and Shirley Brown both of Jackson Center, OH; six grandchildren and his puppy dog "Boots". Mary Elizabeth Damman, 83 died August 24, 2022 in Linn, KS.&nbsp; She was born on December 11, 1938 in Garnett, Kansas the daughter of Ora and Ida Cunningham.&nbsp; Mary grew up in the Lane community and was a Class of 1956 graduate of Lane High School.&nbsp; She married Thurl Damman on September 19, 1959.&nbsp; Mary Worked as a Secretary at the White House during the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations.&nbsp; They farmed in the Palmer community when they returned to Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mary also worked as a waitress at the Linn American Legion, as a CNA at the nursing home and as a bookkeeper for many businesses.&nbsp; Thurl preceded her in death on July 7, 2000.&nbsp; In her free time, Mary enjoyed gardening in her strawberry patch, quilting and playing games with her grandchildren.&nbsp; She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church.&nbsp; Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

Diane grew up in New York and graduated from Dundy High School. She later went on to Cloud County Community College where she earned and Associates in Applied Science degree. Diane married Clifford Swarthout Sr. on July 3, 1971. She worked as a certified nurse's aide for home health and a certified medication aide at Medical Lodge in Clay Center as well as Leonardville Nursing Home.&nbsp; Diane also delivered the newspaper for several different newspapers. She enjoyed fishing and coloring, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Eagles. Michael Duane “Mike” Brannan, 74 of Clay Center, died on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Wakefield Care and Rehab in Wakefield, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born on August 11, 1948 in Clay Center, the son of Douglas Dale and Florine June (Terry) Brannan.&nbsp;

Mike graduated from CCCHS in 1966.&nbsp; He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War.&nbsp; Mike worked for Keeler Roofing and McGee Roofing.

Mike is survived by his brother, Bill Brannan of Seneca, Kansas.

Michael Duane “Mike” Brannan

Marcia Ann (Krone) Girard was born in Clyde, Kansas, to Ronalda Leduc Krone and Paul Krone on September 5, 1941. She passed away Friday, August 26 at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care from respiratory failure as a result of ALS or Lou Gerhig’s disease. Marcia graduated from Clyde High School with the Class of 1959. She then pursued her interest in the nursing profession, and in 1962 she graduated from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Salina. That year was a pivotal one in her life as she married Bernard Lee Girard in December of 1962. Marcia and Bernard moved about following their careers (nursing and school administration) and caring for their three children. She enjoyed a diverse career as a nurse: working in the operating room as a surgical nurse, in critical-access inpatient nursing, and finally ending her career in the post-surgical ward. Tending to the needs of others was her life’s work, and she never strayed from that even upon retirement. She was quick to make cookies and to offer assistance to anyone in need. She loved all things musical and enjoyed her church choir and many evening with friends listening to the symphony and watching community plays. Traveling to see her children was one of her favorite activities after retiring. She was quick to offer prayer support, and her continual ability to lighten the load of others with a sympathetic ear remained until her last breath. Marcia is survived by her husband Bernard of Solomon, Kansas, and their three children: Stephanie and husband David May of Shawnee, KS; Steven Girard and wife Blanka, of Ann Arbor, MI; and Lori and husband Robert Schrock of Kiowa, KS. Marcia and Bernard’s true delight though was in their grandchildren. Andrea May, Rachel Girard, Lindsay and her husband Andrew McKittrick, Patrick Girard, Bridget May, and Ellie Schrock brought tremendous joy to her, and she cherished every visit, every text and every phone call with them. She will be greatly missed by many cousins, former co-workers, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Ronalda Krone and her grandson Zachary May. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 30, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon, Kansas. Burial will follow in Clyde, Kansas, at Mount Calvary. She then pursued her interest in the nursing profession, and in 1962 she graduated from the Sisters of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Salina. That year was a pivotal one in her life as she married Bernard Lee Girard in December of 1962. Marcia and Bernard moved about following their careers (nursing and school administration) and caring for their three children. She enjoyed a diverse career as a nurse: working in the operating room as a surgical nurse, in critical-access inpatient nursing, and finally ending her career in the post-surgical ward. Tending to the needs of others was her life’s work, and she never strayed from that even upon retirement. She was quick to make cookies and to offer assistance to anyone in need. She loved all things musical and enjoyed her church choir and many evening with friends listening to the symphony and watching community plays. Traveling to see her children was one of her favorite activities after retiring. She was quick to offer prayer support, and her continual ability to lighten the load of others with a sympathetic ear remained until her last breath. Marcia is survived by her husband Bernard of Solomon, Kansas, and their three children: Stephanie and husband David May of Shawnee, KS; Steven Girard and wife Blanka, of Ann Arbor, MI; and Lori and husband Robert Schrock of Kiowa, KS. Marcia and Bernard’s true delight though was in their grandchildren. Andrea May, Rachel Girard, Lindsay and her husband Andrew McKittrick, Patrick Girard, Bridget May, and Ellie Schrock brought tremendous joy to her, and she cherished every visit, every text and every phone call with them. She will be greatly missed by many cousins, former co-workers, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Ronalda Krone and her grandson Zachary May. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 30, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon, Kansas. Burial will follow in Clyde, Kansas, at Mount Calvary. Sandy was born in Roanoke, Virginia on September 2, 1943, the daughter of the late Hazel (Rigby) and Arthur Douglas Jackson. She was united in marriage to Jack Reid Cunningham III on June 1, 1963, in Roanoke. She attended and graduated from the William Flemming, High School in Roanoke, and also attended Virginia Western Community College. For a few years after their marriage, she worked as a secretary for a psychiatrist's office. After the birth of her son, she became a homemaker until she died. He retired in 1995 but continued to work part-time for the Technical College until 2009. Honors that he received during his education career included: selection to “Who’s Who in the Midwest”, Vocational Leadership Award, National Distinguished Service Award, International Man of the Year, Who’s Who in America, Kansas Career Counselor of the Year, Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who’s Who in American Education and “Distinguished Service Award” for the Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers. James was among the first in Kansas to be certified by the State of Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board as a professional counselor. He was also certified as a “National Certified Counselor” and was a life member of the National Education Association. He held membership and offices in the Kansas Counseling Association and the Kansas Career Counselors Associations, as well as American Counseling Association. He married Marilyn Tibbetts. She survives at their home. He is also survived by his sons, Steven of Manhattan, and Russell and his partner, Aimee DeSett of Leawood, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bonita Shortt, and a brother, Harry R. Shortt. Mr. Shortt enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and farming. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and going to garage sales. Services for Mr. Shortt will be private.

Richard (Rich) Thomas Freeman, 74, passed away on August 22, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, Kansas. Rich was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 30, 1948, the son of Commander John Keith Freeman and Betty Jean (Foster) Freeman. As the son of a naval officer, his early years were spent in numerous locations in the United States and abroad, including Pensacola and Jacksonville, FL; San Diego, CA; Newport, RI; Yokosuka, Japan; Tehran, Iran; and Alexandria, VA. Between kindergarten and graduation from high school at Fort Hunt High School, Alexandria, VA, Rich had attended thirteen schools. Rich attended college at Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS, and Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. While at K-State he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1971. During his senior year at K-State, he met Nancy Jane Anderson, a member of the neighboring sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and they married at Central Congregational Church in Topeka, KS on August 21, 1971. Following graduate study in political science and grain science, Rich and Nancy moved to Orange Park, FL, where Rich began a long career in marine transportation and fuel oil supply for electric utilities in the northeastern U.S. He was employed as a boarding agent for Eller and Company, then as an oil trader in the U.S. for New England Petroleum and North American Petroleum, and then Kildair Service, Ltd., Montreal, Canada. During their 46 years in Florida, Rich and Nancy raised a son, Patrick Keith, and daughter, Anne Kristin. As a strong supporter of Nancy’s career, they moved to Amelia Island, FL in 2003 when her job required that move, and later relocated to Gainesville, FL. They returned to Manhattan in October 2020 to be closer to their granddaughter who was then a K-State Wildcat. Rich’s life interests centered on family, Boy Scouts, playing the banjo, bluegrass music, amateur ham radio, and World War II history. He reconnected with his TKE fraternity brothers in recent years, where he enjoyed reliving old stories of his college years. Rich is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Patrick (Regina) Freeman, High Springs, FL, and Anne Freeman, Manhattan, KS; and grandchildren, Hailey Pitts, Keith Freeman, Jacob Freeman, and Blair Labombarbe; his sister, Patricia L. Freeman, Orange Park, FL; brother, John K. (Ann) Freeman, Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents. Rich requested cremation. Bobby Ernest Woodring - July 18, 1931 - August 18, 2022

Marcine Fern Hohman, age 82 of Green, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born January 6, 1940 on a farmstead near Oak Hill, the daughter of Gaylord and Josephine (Palmateer) Stienbruck.

On August 7, 1960, she married Don Ray Hohman.&nbsp; He survives of the home.

Marcine worked at the Green United State Post Office and helped on the farm.&nbsp; She attended the Green United Methodist Church and enjoyed raising chickens, cooking, crocheting and knitting.

In addition to her husband Don, she is survived by two sons, Chris Hohman and wife Martye of Glasco and Gaylen Hohman of Green, and one brother, Fred Stienbruck of Longford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ted Stienbruck and one sister, Gaylene Frigon.

Cremation is planned with inurnment in the Rose Meron Cemetery at a later date.

Dickie Lee Ryff was born at home on February 26, 1938 to Louis D. Ryff and Doris C. (Shane)Ryff. He was an ornery cuss and learned a hard lesson after a bull he enjoyed taunting decided it had had enough. That old bull caught Dickie with one of his horns and nearly tore his nose off (likely the reason he never could breathe well thru his nose). Later Dickie learned to drive and enjoyed a good game of cat and mouse with local law enforcement. One such game ensued when a memorable date with a pretty young lady, Florence Murrison, from Chapman included a fast exit out of town by way of Indian Hill on Old 40. That old deputy thought he could catch Dickie when he brought his date home so he just waited, knowing he had to return the same way he left. Dickie outsmarted him by switching his car for his dad’s and drove right past him to return Florence safely home. Dickie eventually settled down and married Florence Murrison on September 25, 1964. He always worked hard, spending many years at Vacu-Blast and Abrasive Blast as well as a few jobs in between. In his spare time, he worked on cars, did auto body and painting as well as enjoyed racing with his son Brian at local tracks on the weekend.

 Dickie Lee Ryff is survived by his wife Florence of the home, sons Ty (Cathy) Ryff, Brian Ryff and Rodney Ryff, daughters Vicky (Bud) Elliott and Glenda (Glen) Renz, sister Shirley Ryff, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. Gregory W. Jacobson, 70 of Hope passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born November 19, 1951 in Hillsboro, Kansas the son of Donald and Ophelia (Rhode) Jacobson. Greg grew up in the Hope area, graduating from Hope High School in 1970. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Emporia State University. Greg grew his passion for farming from his dad, farming alongside Don until he preceded him in death in 2013.

Greg is survived by his mother, Ophelia Jacobson. Sister, Wanda Lewis and husband John. Niece and nephews: Paul Lewis, Sarah (Lewis) Winterscheidt and husband Hank and Luke Lewis. Aunt: Edna Backhus. First cousins: Rodney Mueller; Jody Heath and husband Ron; Brad Backhus and Bev Reid. Second cousins: Jennifer Jay and husband Mike; Jason Backhus and wife Alisha; Mike Mueller and wife Sheila; Danielle Heath and Tyler Heath. Catherine A. Hopkins passed away on August 8, 2022, at 53. She was a family member and friend to many. Catherine A Hopkins was a beloved nurse, motorcyclist, and woman of God who could make anyone laugh. She was a member of Victory City Church in Topeka, KS, and a Washburn Tech alumnus. She was preceded in death by a son, Theodore Hopkins. She is survived by two children: Adrian Coffee and Jasmine Coffee. She is also survived by her parents, Wilbur Coffee and Fran Coffee, and her sister, Melanie Coffee-Hesselberg, along with many other family members and friends. On February 27, 2022, Diane Gayle Weixelman, 87, of Red Feather Lakes, left this world peacefully to join her husband Don and son Tony. Her family was honored to spend her final days with her sharing memories and warm embraces. Diane was born to Charles and Donna Brainard on March 29 th , 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of 3, she moved to Abilene, Kansas. She went to Kansas State University and achieved a degree in Journalism. While there she met Donald Weixelman on a blind date.

Diane loved Don and his large family with 11 siblings, they were married a year later. Colorado had been Diane’s summer home during her childhood, so she and Don moved to Colorado in 1959 to begin a&nbsp;career in real estate. Diane’s passion was her family, she raised 7 children, the house was always full of&nbsp;neighborhood kids, nieces, nephews and occasional foreign students. Diane was a partner in Don’s&nbsp; business and played key roles in the Development of many mountain communities including CrystalLakes, Glacier View Meadows; Beaver Meadows Resort Ranch became her favorite where she spent&nbsp;most of her later years greeting visitors and families while working alongside her daughter Linda and son Gary.

Diane was preceded in death by her son Tony (age 13), her parents and her husband Don. Survivors nclude her children Joseph Weixelman (Chris Tee, Shawn, Christopher, James, Kai), Janice Weixelman (Alan King, Tansy Wawerski, Tye Wawerski), Mike Weixelman, Chris Weixelman (Azar Weixelman,Nasim, Yassy, Nika and Nafeis), Gary Weixelman, Linda Weixelman; in-laws include Jim and Jill Weixelman and Bernadine Weixelman, numerous and loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, their families and countless friends.

A memorial was held at on the day of her birthday, March 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Church in Fort Collins.

Private inurnment was held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Flush, Kansas.

Randy Lee Tinkel, 37, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away, August 10, 2022, as the result of an automobile accident east of Wamego. &nbsp;

Randy was born January 24, 1985, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Darrell and Carma (Juergensen) Tinkel.&nbsp;&nbsp;Randy was a graduate of Great Bend High School where he was a standout athlete and he attended Barton County Community College as well as Manhattan Technical College. Randy loved to play sports all the way into his adult years. Within the past 5 years, Randy took up golf and was the captain of the WCC K-Cup team. His passion for golf trickled down to Korbin, and most of their time together was spent on the course. As an avid outdoorsman, Randy also enjoyed hunting and participating in coyote hunting contests.

Randy was the owner and operator of RT Trucking in Wamego and had become very well known in the area for his driveway and decorative rock business. Randy had a true passion for his business and was proud of all he had accomplished.

Randy married Jillian Crystal Schroeder on September 24, 2011, in Manhattan.&nbsp; She survives at their home.

Randy is survived by his son, Krew, also of the home; and his father, Darrell Tinkel, Great Bend. Father-in-law, Jeff Schroeder and partner Becky May, Brother-in-law, Jared Schroeder, Manhattan, Brother-in-law Josh Schroeder and wife Becky, Manhattan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.&nbsp; Randy was preceded in death by his mother Carma as well as his Mother-in-law Rhonda.

Korbin Ray Tinkel, 7 years old, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away August 13, 2022, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Korbin became a hero that day, donating his organs to 5 other individuals. Korbin’s caring heart allowed others to live on through him.

Korbin was born April 19, 2015, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Randy and Jillian (Schroeder) Tinkel. He was a second grader at Central Elementary School in Wamego and now a forever Super Raider.

Korbin was very active and loved playing golf. He won several junior golf tournaments for his age group this past summer and loved spending time at the golf course with his Dad. Korbin also enjoyed spending time around his Dad’s big trucks and any other type of equipment that might be around, eager to learn as much as he possibly could. In addition to golf, Korbin loved swimming, playing soccer and baseball, and especially wrestling with his little brother Krew. Korbin loved going to church with his Daddy and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church with his family.

Korbin is survived by his mother, Jillian and brother, Krew, Wamego; his grandfather, Darrell Tinkel, Great Bend; grandfather, Jeff Schroeder and partner Becky May, Manhattan; Uncle Jared and Uncle Josh Schroeder (Becky), Manhattan; as well as many other cousins, extended family, and friends.

Laura Mae Wyant, 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Salina Presbyterian Manor in Salina, KS. Visitation will be Friday, August 19th, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20th at First Baptist Church, Junction City, KS. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 31, Junction City, KS 66441. Laura Mae Newton was born on November 7, 1935 to Warren C. and Laura M. (Jones) Newton in Emporia, KS. She was the youngest of ten children. She grew up on farms outside of Reading, KS. She attended school in Reading, KS except for her 3rd grade year, as it was during WW2 when her dad and several siblings worked in the shipyards in California. After graduating from high school, she attended Ottawa University and earned her teaching certificate. At age 19, she began her teaching career at Washington Elementary School in Junction City. Like many teachers, she continued her education in the summers and completed her education with a Master’s Degree in Education. She met her future husband, Donnie L. Wyant, while singing in the First Baptist Church choir. He was serving in the US Army while stationed at Ft. Riley. They married on February 5, 1961, on a snowy day in Reading, KS. They had two children, Debra and Donald. As a military family, they have lived in Kansas, Puerto Rico, Texas, Virginia, and Germany. Laura taught at several schools around the world but retired from Washington Elementary School (the same school where her career began) after teaching for 34 years. Laura loved music; as a child she played violin and taught herself to play the piano. She loved singing in church choirs, in Ladies Trios, with her husband and children, and as a member of the JC Troubadours. Laura served in many roles at the First Baptist Church and volunteered at Geary Community Hospital. She looked forward to (and planned) many of the Newton family reunions. She loved a challenging game of ping-pong oftentimes beating people half her age. She was an accomplished game and card player. She loved all sports and enjoyed cheering on her grandsons and the KSU Wildcats! While her hobbies were many, most of all, she loved her family, her church, and her friends! Her greatest desire for her family and friends was that they would each know Jesus as their Lord and Savior! She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Donald Wyant; and her siblings Edwin Newton, Ruth (Newton) Guptill, Lloyd Newton, Rachel (Newton) Smith, Kenneth Newton, Betty (Newton) Noll, Lee Newton, and William Newton.
