WICHITA —The Wichita Board of Education approved the "Return to School" plan to allow <a href="https://www.usd259.org/Page/18271">OnSite and MySchoo</a>l Remote for PreK-5th grade students and MySchool Remote only for 6th grade-12th grade students during their meeting Thursday evening, according to the district web site.

The decision will last 9 weeks with the option for the district to convene the COVID Advisory Committee to request a change if conditions warrant.

Students enrolled in Education Imagine Academy will continue learning in that virtual model regardless of the level of restriction designated by the Board of Education.

All school activities will be remote only. This means no all-school activities, and no high-risk activities, including football, wrestling, choir, band, and JROTC.

State's largest school district will start 6-12th grades online

DOUGLAS COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 9:30p.m. Thursday in Douglas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Nissan Rogue&nbsp; driven by Sara N. Shamblin, 25, Scranton, Kansas, was southbound on E550 Road. The driver&nbsp; ran the stop sign at the intersection at U.S. 56.

The Nissan struck a westbound 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Timothy W. Cambron, 36, Scranton, in the passenger side. The impact caused Jeep to leave the roadway to the left and roll onto its roof. The Nissan spun around and rolled into the ditch landing on its roof

Shamblin was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics.

Two passengers in the Nissan Dakota L Comstock, 19, and&nbsp; 7-weeks-old Morgan Comstock both of Scranton were transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. EMS transported a third passenger in the Nissan, Autumn Comstock, 17,&nbsp; Scranton, to Stormont Vail in Topeka.

EMS transported Cambron to KU Medical Center. The KHP did not have complete seat belt usage information. Morgan Comstock was restrained in an infant seat and not injured, according to the KHP.

Kan. woman dead, 4 hospitalized after crash

COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have a suspect in custody on numerous charges.

Just before 3p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the trailer park located at 1601 W. Kansas Avenue in Arkansas City for a report of a possible disturbance, according to police spokesperson Andrew Lawson.

A the scene, a female victim, told police a man later identified as 33-year-old Ramon Gomez-Calletano&nbsp; had forcefully entered her residence without permission and allegedly threatened her life.

Police located a man hiding in a bathroom in the home. He initially identified himself as Domingo Lorenz Gomez, but investigators later learned he was Ramon Gomez-Calletano.

While conducting their investigation, police discovered Gomez-Calletano was in possession of a false Kansas driver’s license and two Social Security cards, none of which actually belonged to him.

They also learned Gomez-Calletano had been using these identifications to work in Sumner County.

Officers arrested him on requested charges of felony&nbsp; aggravated burglary, criminal threat and identity theft, as well as interference with a law enforcement officer, according to Lawson. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $57,000 bond

Police find suspect hiding in Kan. woman's bathroom

KINGMAN COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Medicine Lodge Police Department, and the Barber County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in connected to the homicide of Joyce Foulkrod on July 27.

Just after 5p.m. Thursday, KBI agents served an arrest warrant to 34-year-old Clinton W. Rogers for suspected premeditated first-degree murder. The warrant was executed at the Kingman County Jail, where Rogers was previously in custody for alleged theft.

At the request of the Barber County Attorney, the Kansas Attorney General’s Office’s will prosecute the case.&nbsp;

KBI: Premeditated murder of Medicine Lodge woman

Jackson County —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a wanted Kansas man on new charges after an arrest.

Just after 10:30p.m. Tuesday, a Sheriff's Deputy stopped a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer on U.S. Highway 75 near 302nd&nbsp;Road for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

 The stop resulted in the arrest of the rear seat passenger who was identified as Damon Lynn Smith, 26, of Lansing, Kansas. 

Deputies booked Smith into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of distribution of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no drug tax stamp. 

Smith also had an outstanding warrant for distribution of a hallucinogenic drug out of Atchison, County, and three outstanding warrants out of Lyon County, according to Morse.

Kan. man jailed for alleged hallucinogenic drug distribution

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating&nbsp; the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old woman.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shooting at a business in the 900 block of North Grove, in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.&nbsp; 

At approximately the same time, officers were sent to an area hospital in reference to a walk-in shooting call.

At the hospital, officers contacted the 23-year-old woman who had been shot. She died of her injuries, according to Davidson. 

At the hospital, police also contacted a 54-year-old man who had been shot. He was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and released.

Investigators are working to learn all the details of what occurred. This is not believed to be a random incident, according to Davidson.&nbsp;

Police are asking the public if they have any information on this case to contact them.

JACKSON COUNTY –&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) continues their investigation of an officer involved shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Jackson County.

A deputy from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle with a stolen tag, occupied by a male driver and female passenger, in the Prairie Band Casino and Resort parking lot. The male driver, later identified as 41-year-old Shanon Wren, of Topeka, Kan., fled when the deputy attempted to make contact, prompting a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when Wren crashed the car near 158th&nbsp;St. and T Rd, southeast of Mayetta, Kansas.

Preliminary information indicates that KHP was asked to assist when Wren and his female passenger fled on foot into a wooded area. Deputies, troopers and a K-9 searched for them, and later located the subjects approximately .5 mile south of the vehicle they abandoned. Shortly after 5 p.m., troopers and deputies approached Wren and the female. Wren was armed with a knife, and during the confrontation, a trooper shot Wren.

EMS responded to the scene and Wren was flown to Stormont Vail hospital in critical condition. He was later flown to the University of Kansas Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

The female subject was taken to a Topeka hospital, treated for a condition unrelated to the incident, and was then released.

The KBI will conduct a thorough and independent investigation into this shooting. Once completed the findings will be turned over to the Jackson County Attorney for review.

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an officer involved shooting.

Just before 4p.m. Wednesday, a sheriff’s deputy discovered a Nissan Altima passenger car in the Prairie Band Potawatomi Casino and Resort parking lot that had been reported stolen, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle that was occupied by a male driver and female passenger. 

 The vehicle stopped and then quickly fled from the deputy. A pursuit ensued in southern Jackson County. 

 The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed through a gate to a pasture located west of T. Road on 158th Road.  The pursuit continued across the pasture and into a wooded area where the vehicle lodged in a creek. 

 The two occupants of the vehicle fled into a wooded area with a rugged terrain. Jackson County Deputies and Kansas State Troopers pursued the pair on foot. 

 The male suspect conversed with law enforcement and allegedly had a weapon and appeared to make the female a hostage, according to Morse.

A Kansas State Trooper shot the suspect. Life Star Air Ambulance transported to suspect to an area hospital. The female suspect was being detained by authorities, according to Morse. The KBI has been requested to investigate the incident.  No law enforcement officers were injured, according to Morse.

Once completed the findings will be turned over to the Jackson County Attorney for review.---------------JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an officer involved shooting.Just before 4p.m. Wednesday, a sheriff’s deputy discovered a Nissan Altima passenger car in the Prairie Band Potawatomi Casino and Resort parking lot that had been reported stolen, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle that was occupied by a male driver and female passenger. The vehicle stopped and then quickly fled from the deputy. A pursuit ensued in southern Jackson County. The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed through a gate to a pasture located west of T. Road on 158th Road. The pursuit continued across the pasture and into a wooded area where the vehicle lodged in a creek. The two occupants of the vehicle fled into a wooded area with a rugged terrain. Jackson County Deputies and Kansas State Troopers pursued the pair on foot. The male suspect conversed with law enforcement and allegedly had a weapon and appeared to make the female a hostage, according to Morse.A Kansas State Trooper shot the suspect. Life Star Air Ambulance transported to suspect to an area hospital. The female suspect was being detained by authorities, according to Morse. The KBI has been requested to investigate the incident. No law enforcement officers were injured, according to Morse.

KANSAS CITY (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs will prohibit the wearing of Native American headdresses, face paint and clothing at Arrowhead Stadium.

They also are discussing the future of the iconic tomahawk chop as they address what many consider racist imagery associated with their franchise.

The team said in a statement Thursday that the changes came after conversations with national organizations that work closely on issues that affect Native Americans. They also come on the heels of the NFL team in Washington choosing to drop Redskins as its nickname after a long and often contentious dialogue with fans and the public.

“In 2014, we began a dialogue with a group of local leaders form diverse American Indian backgrounds and experiences,” the team said in its statement. “As an organization, our goal was a better understanding of issues facing American Indian communities in our region and explore opportunities to raise awareness of American Indian cultures and celebrate the rich traditions of tribes with a historic connection to the Kansas City area.”

In response to that initial collaboration, the Chiefs began celebrating American Indian Heritage Month by inviting elders to a game each year, and having them do a ceremonial “Blessing of the Drum and the Four Directions of Arrowhead Stadium.”

Those discussions also led to the Chiefs discouraging the wearing of ceremonial headdresses and face paint, though they were still seen throughout Arrowhead Stadium on game days. Now, those fans wearing often elaborate headdresses and face paint will be stopped at the gate and prohibited from entering the facility.

The Chiefs also said they are “engaged in a thorough review process of the Arrowhead Chop,” which is also used by fans of the Florida State Seminoles, Atlanta Braves and other sports teams. The team also hopes to shift the focus of the war drum that is pounded at the start of games to “something that symbolizes the heartbeat of the stadium.”

“We are exploring all options for a modified engagement moment from the Drum Deck that maintains a unifying effect between our fans and our players but better represents the spiritual significance of the drum,” the team said.

The Chiefs, who are named after former Mayor Harold Roe “Chief” Bartle, have made other changes throughout the years to distance themselves from Native American imagery. The pinto horse named Warpaint that rides onto the field was originally ridden by a man in full Native American headdress, but for years has been ridden by a cheerleader instead.

Despite the changes, there have continued to be occasional demonstrations, protests and public outcry at Chiefs games at home and on the road. Native Americans sought to have the Arizona Cardinals bar face paint when the Chiefs visited several years ago, and protests took place in Minnesota in 2015 before a game against the Vikings.

Officials and students at nearby Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, asked the Chiefs to ban behavior that invokes stereotypes amid their 2016 playoff run. And when the franchise won its first Super Bowl in 50 years in February, it once again put the subject of tradition versus racism at the forefront of the national consciousness.

The team did not address its nickname, its logo of “KC” inside an arrowhead, or the name of Arrowhead Stadium itself in its statement Thursday. But it did say that it was exploring the creation of a formalized education program, and it promised to continue discussions with Native American groups moving forward.

Chiefs to prohibit Native American imagery at Arrowhead

KANORADO, Kan. (AP) — Kansas officials and a granddaughter of President Dwight Eisenhower on Thursday celebrated the 50th anniversary of the completion of Interstate 70 across the state.

Mary Eisenhower joined state Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz and other dignitaries in unveiling a new highway sign for east-bound I-70 as it leaves Colorado during an event near the border. The sign welcomes motorists to Kansas, notes that it was President Eisenhower’s home and commemorates the June 17, 1970 completion of I-70.

President Eisenhower pushed for construction of the interstate highway system in the 1950s. He’d been a young lieutenant colonel in 1919, when it took a convoy of Army vehicles two months to cross the U.S. He served as president from 1953 to 1961, and the Kansas Department of Transportation’s headquarters building in Topeka is named for him.

The first stretch of I-70 just west of Topeka was completed in 1956, and building the full route through Kansas took 14 years. KDOT spokeswoman Jeanny Sharp said the agency waited to mark the 50th anniversary of I-70′s completion until its sign was ready.

Kansas celebrates 50th anniversary of completion of I-70

GREENWOOD COUNTY–&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after a Eureka man was found dead in his home late Wednesday night.

Just after 10 p.m. Wednesday, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office responded to do a welfare check at a home at 1607 Quincy Street in Eureka, Kansas, according to a media release from the KBI.

 When deputies responded, they searched the residence and discovered 78-year-old Danny Shue deceased inside. Shue was pronounced dead at the scene.

meatpackers didn’t heed guidance on how to prepare.

The report 
says infectious disease experts and emergency planners had modeled what 
might happen with the arrival of a highly contagious virus, including 
how an outbreak might create food shortages and plant closures.

And those experts repeatedly urged companies and government agencies to prepare.

“It
 was an unmitigated disaster for food processors, and it didn’t have to 
be,” John Hoffman, who developed emergency planning for the food and 
agriculture sector at the Department of Homeland Security during the 
George W. Bush administration, told ProPublica. “There are things that 
could have happened in a pandemic that would have been novel, but this 
has unfolded pretty much as the pandemic plan has suggested it would.”

Instead, the report says, the industry chose to deal with any such crisis as it came.

White
 House officials brought food and agriculture industry leaders together 
nearly 15 years ago to chart a game plan for a pandemic. And George W. 
Bush administration officials warned businesses that “as many as 40% of 
their workers might be absent due to illness, quarantine or fear,” the 
ProPublica story says. “Social distancing would be necessary in 
manufacturing plants … even if it affected business operations. And 
government modeling showed that such high absenteeism would cut food 
production in half.”

In Kansas, the meatpacking plants critical to
 the economy of the southwest corner of the state have become COVID-19 
hotspots. The Kansas News Service reported last week that plants in the 
state were kept open despite concerns from at least one top local public
 health physician in Finney County, who warned that keeping the plants 
open <a href="https://www.hppr.org/post/emails-show-kansas-agencies-helped-keep-meatpacking-plants-open-despite-concerns-about" target="_blank">posed an avoidable risk to a lethal threat</a>.

So
 far, public health officials in the state have linked meatpacking 
plants to roughly 3,300 cases, more than a dozen deaths and 16 
coronavirus cluster outbreaks. That makes them the largest source of 
outbreaks in Kansas — more than double tied to long-term care 
facilities.

Report: Meatpacking industry ignored years of pandemic warnings

LAWRENCE —The University of Kansas Chancellor Doug Girod&nbsp; shared initial results from the university's testing efforts as our students returns to campus.

According to Girod, "We have&nbsp;<a href="https://protect.ku.edu/covid-19-test-reporting" target="_blank">posted initial results</a>&nbsp;from our community COVID-19 saliva testing for the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. The results show the total tests administered and positive results for both students and faculty/staff, along with positivity rates for each group.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, 89 people have tested positive out of 7,088 entry test results received, for a positivity rate of 1.25%. 

Of the 89 positive cases, 87 are students and two are faculty and staff. We plan to post additional updates on the website on Tuesday of next week."

In his message to the community the chancellor said,"When we decided to move forward with broad entry testing of our community, we knew that inevitably we would receive some positive results. This positivity rate is in line with what we’ve expected and prepared for as we began this process in consultation with our Pandemic Medical Advisory Team.

We’ve conducted this testing upon return to campus before the beginning of on-campus activities and classes for two key reasons:

First, we want to identify positive cases early and ensure that they are isolating appropriately away from campus. Those who test positive receive instructions to self-isolate, in accordance with guidelines from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, along with additional instructions from Watkins Health Services. All members of our community must follow these directions closely.

Second, we want to establish baseline levels of positivity rates among our campus populations to determine appropriate safety, infection prevention, education, and testing efforts moving forward. We plan to continue more targeted testing effort and random sampling of our population after this initial round of testing.

In addition to the numbers from the early rounds of testing, we have also identified a few trends.

A large majority of the 87 overall student positives have come from our fraternity and sorority community. 

On Wednesday night, Girod met with leaders in the fraternity and sorority communities along with other campus officials to stress the importance of adhering to the health and safety guidelines and rules the university laid out while laying out some additional policy recommendations.&nbsp;

Also of note, according to Girod, "Our staged move-in process at KU Student Housing helped to identify positive cases in the on-campus housing community earlier so these individuals can isolate at their permanent addresses before coming to campus. Thanks to that preparation, so far we do not have any cases isolating in student housing. We expect that will likely change as new students continue to move in, and we are prepared to offer spaces for those students who need to self-isolate.

We know what works to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wear a mask. Stay six feet apart from others. Wash your hands frequently. Use our CVKey app to check your symptoms for COVID-19 each day. KU reports results of first round of campus virus testing 

RENO COUNTY—Investigators say an electrical issue is to blame for a fire in a garage attached to a home in Hutchinson.

Just before 6:30a.m. Thursday, fire crews responded to 4302 Foothill Drive in Hutchinson for a reported structure fire, according to Fire Chief Steve Beer.

The first arriving unit reported smoke from the garage and attic area.

Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly with fire damage being contained to the garage area of the home. Following investigation, the fire cause was determined to be an overloaded extension cord, according to Beer. Occupants of the residence escaped the fire without injury.

The Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted by Reno County EMS, Kansas Gas, and Evergy.&nbsp; Beer has not released details on a damage estimate.

Occupants escape electrical fire at Kansas home

TOPEKA — Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Barbara Bollier sought Tuesday to highlight GOP nominee Roger Marshall’s opposition to Medicaid expansion in Kansas and to federal legislation strengthening access to health coverage supported by the Affordable Care Act.

Bollier, a state senator from Mission Hills and a retired anesthesiologist, said during a conference call with other Kansas Democratic candidates for federal office that she had been a consistent advocate for Medicaid expansion and upgrading the ACA.

“The number one issue I hear about from Kansans is health care. That is why it is at the top of my list,” Bollier said. “I have an opponent who says do not expand Medicaid. We can do so much better as Kansans. We must move forward with health care reform.””

She said Marshall was wrong to campaign for repeal of Obamacare, which granted states an opportunity to broaden eligibility for Medicaid to low- and moderate-income families. Kansas is among a dozen states that has declined to extend the reach of Medicaid under the ACA.

On Monday, Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly said expansion would be beneficial to as many as 150,000 Kansans. She said there was significance in passage of Medicaid expansion ballot initiatives in Missouri and Oklahoma, and that she hadn’t given up on comparable reform in Kansas.

Marshall, a Great Bend physician who represents the 1st District in the U.S. House, voted as a congressman to repeal the ACA and offered testimony to the Kansas Legislature against Medicaid expansion. He led a group of conservative Republican House members in development of a proposed alternative to the ACA that preserved the popular coverage of pre-existing conditions but diluted much of the federal law.

In June, the Democratic-led House approved a bill that would deepen ACA benefits and provide financial inducements for holdout states to expand eligibility. Marshall joined U.S. Reps. Steve Watkins, of the 2nd District, and Ron Estes, of the 4th District in voting against that bill. U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids, the 3rd District Democrat, cast the delegation’s only vote on behalf of the bill.

The measure sent to the Senate on a 234-179 vote would guarantee women could remain eligible for Medicaid coverage for 12 months after giving birth. It would remove a Trump administration rule that enabled the sale of skimpy 12-month health insurance plans.

It also would allow federal health officials to negotiate the price of prescription drugs under Medicare, a provision that Bollier endorsed.

Bollier, speaking on a call tied to the virtual edition of the Democratic National Convention, said she was disappointed Marshall didn’t embrace the idea of using the market power of Medicare to reduce the cost of medicine in the United States.

“We’ve got to move that forward, because we know that as Medicare pricing goes, so goes the rest of our prices in this country on health care,” she said.

U.S. Senate nominees offer conflicting diagnosis of Medicaid expansion

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit and run accident and have made an arrest.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, two police detectives observed a red GMC Sonoma strike a 59- year-old woman who was walking in a crosswalk at East Douglas Avenue and North Main Street in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

 The GMC, which was driven a suspect later identified as 27-year-old Dalton Drew was traveling west on Douglas and turned South on Main Street after striking the woman.

 The 59-year-old received minor injuries from the accident.

Officers located the truck exiting from West Kellogg onto North Meridian Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the truck, but Drew refused and led officers on a pursuit.

The pursuit ended after Drew lost control of the truck and struck a tree. He then ran from the truck, but was located and arrested without further incident in a backyard at a nearby residence. He is being held on requested charges of felony evade and elude, hit and run, criminal possession of a firearm, and outstanding warrants in Nevada, according to Wheeler. Drew also has six previous convictions for theft, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.This case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office

Kansas hit and run suspect arrested hiding in backyard

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas prosecutor has ruled that law enforcement were justified in fatally shooting a man linked to two Nebraska killings.

Douglas County, Kansas, District Attorney Charles Branson announced his findings Tuesday after reviewing the deadly June 15 shooting of 31-year-old Nicholas Hirsh.

Authorities&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/d4f21b974fc1e7f644be1d7d838ce57d">have said</a>&nbsp;they believed Hirsh had been in Kansas since June 12 when a car was stolen from Clay Center. The Marshals Service was helping to look for the vehicle when the Kansas Highway Patrol spotted it near Perry Lake in northeast Kansas.

Troopers pursued the vehicle into Lawrence, where gunfire was exchanged, and Hirsh was killed. Branson’s announcement means no charges will be filed against the officers involved.

Hirsh, a white man, faced a first-degree murder arrest warrant for the Omaha, Nebraska, shooting death of John Miles, 41, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. During their homicide investigation, detectives also discovered the body of 68-year-old John Clanton in the Ponca Hills area of Douglas County in Nebraska.

The Omaha Police Department said detectives determined Hirsh was also responsible for Clanton’s death. They are not looking for any additional suspects in either homicide.

Kan. officers justified in fatal shooting of homicide suspect

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas death toll from the coronavirus pandemic rose to 411 on Wednesday as public health officials reported six more deaths.

The state Department of Health and Environment also reported on its website that Kansas had another 723 confirmed and probable cases since Monday, an increase of 2%, for a total of 35,890.

The actual number of cases is thought to be far higher because people can be infected without feeling ill and because of a lack of testing, particularly early in the pandemic.

Kansas has had 441 coronavirus clusters since the pandemic began, with 209 deaths at long-term care facilities, the health department said. Clusters at meatpacking plants accounted for 19 deaths and religious gatherings accounted for 12 deaths.

Health officials reported five clusters at Kansas colleges and universities associated with 57 coronavirus cases, with no hospitalizations or deaths associated with them.

Daycare facilities and schools were associated with 16 clusters associated with 78 cases, including one which required hospitalization.

Shawnee Mission, among the state’s largest school districts, plans to start classes online and suspend sports. But a neighboring school district is holding off on making a call as some parents urge them to reopen.

KANSAS CITY (AP) — Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman has been suspended from working Cincinnati’s games after using an anti-gay slur on air Wednesday night, prompting the team to apologize for the “horrific, homophobic remark.”

Brennaman used the slur moments after the Fox Sports Ohio feed returned from a commercial break before the top of the seventh inning in the first game of a doubleheader at Kansas City. Brennaman did not seem to realize he was already on air. He later apologized.

The Reds took the 56-year-old Brennaman off the broadcast in the fifth inning of the second game.

“The Cincinnati Reds organization is devastated by the horrific, homophobic remark made this evening by broadcaster Thom Brennaman,” the team said in a statement. “He was pulled off the air, and effective immediately was suspended from doing Reds broadcasts. We will be addressing our broadcasting team in the coming days.”

“In no way does this incident represent our players, coaches, organization, or our fans. We share our sincerest apologies to the LGBTQ+ community in Cincinnati, Kansas City, all across this country, and beyond. The Reds embrace a zero-tolerance policy for bias or discrimination of any kind, and we are truly sorry to anyone who has been offended,” it said.
