Teen in stolen car struck police vehicle during pursuit

SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas teen in connection with a stolen car, police chase and crash.

According to Salina Police Captain, Abner's Auto, 212 East Iron Avenue in Salina reported someone on Tuesday stole a small amount of cash and a 2007 Saturn Ion valued at $4,000.

The front door window of the business had been shattered but remained intact and a 25-inch by 31-inch south side window was broken at the dealership, according to Forrester

Later on Wednesday, the Concordia Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit with a black 2007 Saturn Ion, and during the pursuit, the vehicle struck a Belleville Police Department patrol vehicle that was assisting.

The driver of the Saturn identified as Marquez Ruffin, 19, of Salina, fled the crash and was later arrested in Republic County, according to a social media report from Concordia Police

The Concordia Police Department has requested the following charges that include No registration, Speeding, Fail to maintain lane, No proof of insurance, Flee and elude, nterference with a law enforcement officer, Avoiding spike strips

Requested charges from the Salina Police Department are pending, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.
