Metal detctor identified gun, student arrested at Kan. high school

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas high school student for allegedly attempting to bring a gun to school.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, police arrested the student at Wyandotte High School, according to a statement from Kansas City, Kansas. Public schools.

The school's metal detectors identified the weapon before the student could move through the security checkpoint. Authorities confiscated the weapon and the student was arrested without incident.  There were no injuries reported and no disruption to the school day.

Authorities released no additional details.
