Sheriff's K9 helps Kan. deputies recover stolen trailer

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on theft charges after a traffic stop in Kansas.

Just before 6a.m., Monday a sheriff's deputy stopped a Ford Ranger pickup truck pulling a trailer in the 2600 block ofNE Calhoun Bluff Road, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

The trailer was recently reported stolen out of Jefferson County. Deputies conducted a felony car stop and with the assistance of a Sheriff’s Office K9, arrested Travis D. Walker, 39, of Topeka and booked him into the Jefferson County Jail on requested felony theft charges.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said the quick communication from Jefferson County led to the recovery of a stolen trailer and the arrest of the suspect.
