
JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas teen.
Just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Sheriff’s deputy observed a red 2012 Honda Civic traveling southbound on W. Road from 174th Road, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.
The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued and the vehicle struck a stop sign.
The deputy observed the bumper from the car lying in the roadway. The vehicle stopped near 158th and T. Road where the rear seat passenger allegedly fled on foot.
Deputies arrested the driver identified as Skylar Joe Robert Mechtley, 18, of Mayetta.
He was booked into jail on requested charges of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Morse.
