There will be a redeployment ceremony for the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade on Thursday at Fort Riley. It begins at 11:15 a.m at the hangar at 814 Marshall Drive. The Soldiers are returning to post from a nine month deployment to Korea.
The first group of Soldiers arrived on post earlier this month, with the remaining set to redeploy in large groups in the next few weeks. The entire battalion will return by late November.
Several hundred Soldiers from the battalion departed from Fort Riley for Korea in December and assumed the Korea rotational force mission as part of the U.S. commitment to maintaining peace and deterring aggression in northeast Asia.
