SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting death and after asking the public for help to ID a suspect have arrested 33-year-old Daniel Scott Carpenter, according to the Sedgwick County booking report.

Just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a welfare check in the 800 block of West Murdock in Wichita, according to Officer Charley Davidson.  Upon arrival, officers located 32-year-old Jason Huber of Wichita who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment where he died.

The investigation revealed 28-year-old Caesar Hermosillo of Dodge City and Huber were both at the same nearby business.   They left the business, Huber on a bicycle and Hermosillo in a van westbound on Murdock.

At Murdock and Stackman Drive, Huber was shot and his bicycle was taken.

Carpenter left the business driving a white Buick La Sabre and Huber left on a bicycle both going west on Mudock before the shooting.

Carpenter is being held on requested charges of first-degree murder. Police have not reported details of the arrest.
