SEDGWICK COUNTY — Authorities have identified the man who died in an accident just before 8p.m. Sunday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Ford Fusion driven by Landon Scott Semsroth, 28, Wichita, was eastbound on 13th and lost control of the car.

The vehicle jumped the curb, struck a tree, fence line, traveled down a ravine, struck a drainage culvert, went airborne and landed on a 2020 Ram 2500 Van driven by Rosendo Neftali Gonzalez Hernandez, 36, Kansas City, Missouri, that was southbound on Interstate 35.

The Ford then rolled off the van and landed on its top.

A passenger in the van identified as Josue David Elena, 33, Kansas City, Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported Hernandez and Semsroth to Wesley Medical Center.  Semsroth was properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP. The agency did not report seat belt usage for the occupants in the van.
