KANSAS CITY— Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal crash in Kanas City have identified the passenger who died as 18-year-old Kevin Adero of Kansas City, Miossouri, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Just before 9p.m. March 29, a Hyundai Elantra was southbound on U.S. 169 Highway at a very high rate of speed, according to Gonzalez.
The driver of the Hyundai, for unknown reasons was passing cars on the shoulder and splitting the two lanes of travel and passing on the center lane line.
The driver lost control of the car. It traveled off the roadway to the left, struck the guardrail and rolled.
All four of the occupants were not wearing seatbelts. The front right passenger later identified as Adero was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and two passengers were transported to area hospitals, with critical injuries.
Both directions on US 169 were closed down for approximately three hours during the investigation.
