Kan. sheriff's sergeant accused of stalking, domestic violence

SEDGWICK COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a sheriff's sergeant on multiple charges after an arrest.

On Thursday, police arrested 45-year-old Sergeant Justin Maxfield on requested charges of Aggravated Assault, Domestic Violence Battery, Domestic Violence Criminal Damage to Property and Stalking, according to Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick.

The charges stem from incidents involving an intimate partner.

The Sergeant, Justin Maxfield, has been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for 12 years. Coinciding with the arrest, Sergeant Maxfield was relieved of duty without pay. He remains in custody, according to online jail records.

In addition to the criminal case, the Professional Standards Unit of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting an investigation.
