Police: Wanted Kansas felon captured after chase on bicycle

SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a chase on bicycle.

Just before 8a.m. Friday, police saw Alec Somrak, 29, of Salina, riding a bicycle in the 200 block of South Ninth Street, according to Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Officers knew that Somrak, a convicted felon, had an active warrant from Saline County District Court for failure to appear. 

The officer attempted to stop Somrak, who continued riding his bike.

After multiple turns, Somrak and the officer ended up at the intersection of South Ninth Street and West South Street. 

Then the officer began chasing Somrak on foot to  apartments in the 200 block of South 12th Street, where Somrak was taken into custody, Forrester said.

In addition to the warrant, Somrak was arrested on the requested charge of felony interference with a law enforcement.
