Juneteenth will be celebrated in Junction City on Saturday in Heritage Park. Jim Sands, a member of the group coordinating the event, said there will be a variety of activities ranging from a car show and DJ's to vendors and musical entertainment including gospel singing.
Sands said music will begin at approximately 11 a.m. with the celebration beginning at noon. "And we'll run it until about 5 o'clock and then we'll start shutting it down."
Sands noted that there will also be an after-party from 7 to 11 p.m. with a DJ. "I just wanted to have some music in the park because people have been locked up, and Sundown Salute is not going to be as big as it was."
