PHILLIPS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a northwest Kansas man on child sex allegations.

On October 26, deputies arrested David C. Alexander, 19, Norton, at a residence in Agra following an investigation into an alleged rape that had been reported the previous week, according to the Phillips Co. Sheriff.

Alexander was arrested on requested charges of rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child 14 to 16 years of age, blackmail, sexual exploitation of a child, fondling a child, distribution of marijuana, and aggravated intimidation of a witness/victim, the department said. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

During his detention, Alexander allegedly attacked a deputy, leading to additional requested charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and attempted aggravated escape from custody.

"The deputy received minor injuries and Alexander was transferred to a more secure facility," the department said.
