SEDGWICK COUNTY — A Kansas man convicted of killing his pregnant girlfriend is going to prison.
On Tuesday, Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced 20-year-old Matthew Criscenzo to 618 months to life for murder, 228 months for kidnapping, and 43 months for aggravated battery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
In two additional cases, Judge Goering sentenced Criscenzo to 55 months for aggravated intimidation of a witness and aggravated assault. This sentence will run concurrently to the murder case.
In February, after four days of testimony and several hours of deliberation, a jury found Criscenzo guilty of premeditated first-degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and aggravated battery in the May 2025 shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend Naomi Oglesby, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

The charges stemmed from an incident on May 25, 2025, in the 700 block of Laura Street in Wichita. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby, who was pregnant at the time, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. While Oglesby succumbed to her injuries, medical personnel were able to successfully deliver her infant.
"This case has been a tragedy for the Wichita community and, most importantly, for the family of Naomi Oglesby," said Chief Assistant District Attorney Jason Roach. "We thank the jury for their diligent service and careful consideration of the evidence presented throughout this trial."
