SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigation a homicide that occurred April 11 in Wichita have a suspect in custody.

On June 24, members of the United States Marshals Service located and arrested the suspect identified as 28-year-old Latron Wesley-Osayande in the 6200 block of SW 26th Court in Topeka on a warrant issued with the case, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Wesley-Osayande will be transferred back to Sedgwick County, where he will be booked on charges related to Johnson's death.

The investigation began on April 11 when Wichita police officers responded to a disturbance with reports of gunfire in the 6300 block of W. Kellogg. While officers investigated the scene, two adult men arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

William Johnson, 37, of Wichita, suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. A 54-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was treated and released.

The investigation determined the shooting stemmed from a disturbance that occurred before the gunfire. Homicide investigators continued following leads, ultimately identifying the suspect, and securing an arrest warrant.

"This arrest is the result of the relentless work of our homicide investigators and the strong partnership we have with the United States Marshals Service," said Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan. "Their commitment to this investigation helped bring us to this point. While an arrest has been made, our work is not over, and we remain committed to seeking justice for William Johnson and his family."
