SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a weekend shooting and have made an arrest.
Just after noon. Saturday, police responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex located in the 2500 block of West Wildwood Lane in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a physical disturbance broke out between a suspect idenfified as 21-year-old Roberto Rodriguez and a 20-year-old male over a property dispute.
Rodriguez left and returned with a firearm and shot at the 20-year-old. The 20-year-old was not struck or injured and then retrieved a gun and returned fire. Rodriguez ran from the apartment.
Police located Rodriguez in a nearby apartment building and arrested him. He had a gunshot wound to his foot. He was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.
Rodriguez is being held on requested charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm, according to Wheeler.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
