RENO COUNTY — Advance voting is underway for residents in two more Kansas school districts with major bond proposals on the ballot.

Ballots went out last week in Hesston USD 460 for a $33.8 million bond proposal. If approved by voters, the money would be used to fund a major expansion at the current high school and move the middle school students to that location. It also calls for a new gymnasium, a new auditorium, major renovations to the current fine arts area and improved infrastructure.

Advance voting is underway at the Harvey County Clerk's office in Newton during regular business hours with the general vote on the bond issue set for Aug. 30.

In Pretty Prairie USD 311 ballots are being being mailed for voters on a $10.4 million bond proposal.  The funds would go to make major renovations to the Middle School gymnasium making it the major sporting venue. It also includes expanded locker rooms, a concession area and more space. The funds would also make major repairs and provide maintenance to all of the district's facilities. Advance voting in person begins Monday, Aug. 22 at the Reno County Clerk’s office at the annex.  The general election for the bond issue is Tuesday, Sept. 6.

In May, voters in Hays USD 489 approved a $143.5 million school bond
to build a new high school, renovate the current high school into a middle school and renovate the current middle school into an elementary school.  The district had unsuccessful bond attempts in 2016 and 2017.
