
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a Friday shooting have made an arrest.
Just after 7:30 p.m., Friday police responded to 11th Street and SW College in Topeka on a report of a shooting, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.
Officers located a man who had been shot. The victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
Police took a person of interest identified as 33-year-old Richard S. O'brien of Topeka into custody to be questioned.
After all parties involved in this incident were interviewed, police arrested O’brien on a requested charge of battery and interference with a Law Enforcement Officer. He remains in the Shawnee County Department of Corrections, according to online jail records.
