
SEDGWICK COUNTY—A law enforcement officer is recovering from injuries in accident that occurred just after 12:30p.m. Saturday in Wichita.
A 2020 Ford Explorer driven by Officer Christopher Ruhlen, 34,Wichita, was southbound on Main Street in Wichita after he received an alert from a Flock camera about a stolen vehicle, according to Officer Juan Rebolldo.
The Officer Ruhlen drove to the area where the camera was when he saw the stolen vehicle driving by him. The officer turned his lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop and entered the intersection atKellogg Drive.
An eastbound 2018 Ford F150 driven by Ernest Ramirez, 60, Hutchinson, struck the officer's SUV on the passenger side door and quarter panel.
EMS transported both drivers to a local hospital for treatment. Ruhlen was treated and has been released. Two juveniles were present in the vehicle; juvenile record protected data, according to the KHP.
