Extremely low temperatures with wind chills well below zero are in the forecast for the next week.
In Junction City, the public works director, Ray Ibarra, noted that there are several things to worry about. "Water lines are in issue. We worry about meters freezing to people's homes and some businesses. So we have to figure out what we've got to do to try to thaw those out."
On streets, Ibarra said they have to worry about ice freezing on roads and how that affects the conditions and making them slick for drivers.
The National Weather Service is forecasting wind chills could dip any from 15 to 30 degrees below zero over the upcoming weekend.
