Kan. man arrested in school parking lot released from hospital

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects following a chase in a stolen vehicle. 

Just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy sheriff attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near Meridian and McCormick in Sedgwick County, according to Lt. Benjamin Blick.

The driver, later identified as 40-year-old convicted felon Benjamin Busby fled in the vehicle and sheriff's deputies pursued. 

The pursuit ended in the West High School parking lot when the Busby and a passenger later identified as 25-year-old Arianna Harrod ran from the vehicle on foot. 

Deputies ultimately located and arrested Busby and Harrod. 

She was found in possession of drugs and a firearm stolen from Wichita at the time of her arrest, according to Blick. The vehicle was stolen from Park City.

Busby, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, was transported to a local hospital after his arrest. Just after 8p.m. Wednesday he was booked into jail on requested charges of possession of stolen property, interference with law enforcement; obstruct felony warrant service, failure to comply, failure to appear and flee or attempt to elude.

Harrod was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for violations of the Offender Registration Act.  Both are from Wichita.

Busby has nine previous convictions that include burglary, theft, flee or elude and for drug possession, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
