SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fire and have made an arrest.
Just after 11:30 a.m. August 15, crews responded to a fire alarm at an apartment at 1312 SW Polk Street in Topeka, according to fire department spokesperson Rosie Nichols.
Fire crews found smoke and flames coming from the apartment and kept the blaze confined to the building where the fire started. No injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, police arrested 62-year-old Rose A. Wilson, 62, of Topeka, on requested charges of Aggravated Arson.
The estimated loss was $500, all of which is associated with content loss. Investigators did find working smoke detectors in the apartment, according to Nichols.
