FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a car theft and have a suspect in  custody.

Just before noon Sunday, police responded to the 1500 block of N. 13th Street in Garden City for a reported auto theft, according to a media release.

Officers met with the reporting party, who stated that  31-year-old Jessie Borrego had taken her Ford Fusion without permission.

Later that day, the reporting party and another individual observed Borrego walking in the 1700 block of E. Fulton Street and confronted him about the vehicle.

Borrego pulled out a pocketknife and began swinging it toward both individuals and yelled obscenities, according to police.

Borrego began chasing one of the victims with the knife before fleeing on foot. Officers located Borrego and took him into custody.

Borrego is in the Finney County Jail on requested charges of Aggravated Battery and Theft.
