MCPHERSON COUNTY—The Kansas Department of Health has suspended the license of the Daycare in McPherson following an arrest of the daycare provider for alleged child endangerment.

Just before 11a.m. Wednesday, police responded to report of young children and a dog found unsupervised in someone’s backyard near a pool, according to Police Captain Mark Brinck.

When officers arrived, they found four children between the ages of 2 and 5-years-old in the area. Officers determined the children had left a daycare in the 700 Block of East Kansas Avenue and walked to this area.

Officers contacted 47-year-old Tracy Barr and another child in the 700 Block of East Kansas Avenue. According to online records Barr is the owner and program director for Golden Explorers, 722 East Kansas Avenue, a Licensed Day Care Home in McPherson with a maximum capacity of 10 children.

Officers took the children into protective custody and later released them to their parents or guardians.

Officers arrested Barr on requested charges of Aggravated Endangering a Child and Driving Under the Influence, according to the release.
