Irwin Army Community Hospital to host flu vaccine drive-thru

Posted Nov 12, 2020 8:17 PM

Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley will be the site of a community flu vaccine drive-thru on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Col. Edgar Arroyo said they will leverage their hospital parking garage. "Our multilevel garage to run everybody through there and offer vaccine, mainly flu vaccine and the Tdap vaccine series."

Arroyo noted that they would like to do more but because of additional screening of shot records that would require that could not occur this year.

Currently IACH is limited in  the ability to track a retirees vaccine records, but the future is promising. The hospital is in  the midst of transitioning to an electronic health record called MHS GENESI, which is interoperable with the VA. Military hospitals on the west coast have already completed the transition. IACH is scheduled to go live with MHS GENESIS in April 2021.
