LABETTE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 6p.m. Monday in Labette County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Derick W. Spencer, 41, Cherryvale, was eastbound on U.S. 400 approximately ten miles east of U.S. 59.
The pickup rear-ended a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Mandy M. Karstetter, 44, McCune, that was slowing to turn onto Messer Road.
The Ford rotated in a counterclockwise motion into the westbound lane. A westbound 2016 Freightliner semi driven by Michael W. Capps, 58, Ward. Arkansas, collided with the rear of the Ford.
Karstetter was pronounced dead at the scene. Spencer and Capps were not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
