Firefighter hospitalized after $100K Kansas house fire

SHAWNEE COUNTY— Authorities are working to determine the cause of a house fire Sunday in Shawnee County that sent one firefighter to the hospital.

Just after 10a.m. Sunday, fire crews responded to a fire at a home at 2406 SW Golf View Drive in Topeka, according to Fire Marshal Todd Harrison.

Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke and flames coming from the home but were able to keep it contained.

The estimated dollar loss is $100,000.00, of which $75,000.00 is associated with structural loss and $25,000.00 associated with contents loss, according to Harrison.

One firefighter sustained non-life threatening injuries during this incident. He was transported to a local hospital by fire officials.  Authorities reported no other injuries.

Working smoke detectors were located within the structure of fire origin, according to Harrison.
