
SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug charges after he was seen littering from his vehicle.
Just before 3a.m. Thursday, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Ford Taurus after a mattress fell off the top of the vehicle near SW 29th Street and SW Topeka Boulevard, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The driver identified as 59-year-old Robert N. Kirk, Jr. of Topeka had an expired and suspended Kansas driver’s license and felony warrants out of Shawnee County and Elk County, Kansas.
During the investigation, the deputy found illegal narcotics and arrested Kirk on requested charge of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and littering from vehicle.
