KCPD: 1 dead, 2 injured in Kansas City gunfight

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri.

Just before 5p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the area of the 8700 block of East 63rd Street on a reported shooting, according to KCPD Officer Jhanelle Cole.

First responders located an adult male victim in the parking lot of the strip mall in the area. Raytown police were actively rendering aid to the victim upon KCPD’s arrival.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. They first responders located another adult male who appeared to be suffering from apparent gunshot trauma.

Raytown police rendered aid until EMS responded to transport him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The third adult male victim was located inside of Quicktrip with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. 

Preliminary information indicates several different individuals that appeared to know each other arrived in different vehicles to the Quicktrip parking lot. Those individuals were involved in an interaction that escalated to gunfire with multiple victims being struck. The vehicles left the scene prior to officer arrival. Police are working to identify subjects of interest and do not have anyone in custody at this time. 

Police have not released the name of the victim.
