Man accused of killing wife on camping trip in Kansas

MIAMI COUNTY, Kan. —Law enforcement authorities investigating a homicide have a suspect in custody.

Just before noon June 13, police in Carthage, Missouri responded to a 911 call about the body of a deceased individual in a camper in the 600 Block of North Main Street, according to a Miami County Sheriff Frank Kelly.

 Officers found the body of a woman, identified as 24-year-old Kenia Lopez, of Carthage, Missouri, deceased inside the camper.  Officers also detained 23-year-old Gavino McJunkins-Macias of Carthage, Missouri for questioning. 

McJunkins-Macias was later arrested on requested charges for abandonment of a corpse. Charges for 2nd-degree murder are also pending through the Miami County Sheriff's Office.  He is being held in Jasper County.
