SEDGWCICK COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 5p.m. Friday in Sedgwick County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Bruce Goolsby, 51, Wichita, was southbound on Interstate 235 near Zoo Boulevard. The driver swerved into lane 1 to avoid rear-ending traffic in lane 2.

As a result, a southbound 1989 Peterbilt semi driven by Stephen Olson, 60, Burlington Junction, MO., sideswiped the Ford, collided with the guardrail and post and traveled into northbound traffic.

A northbound 2012 Hyundai Azera driven by Haley Habiger, 24, Wichita, and a 2007 Cadillac DTS driven by John McCarty, 85, Wichita, side impacted the semi.

Habiger was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Coroner. Two passengers in the Hyundai  Michael J. Romero, 4 and McKinley G. Selfridge, 1, both of Wichita, were transported to Wesley Medical Center.

McCarty, Goolsby and Olson were not injured. The KHP did not have complete seat belt information.
