TOPEKA —Authorities are investigating the cause of a Saturday house fire in Topeka.
Just before 8:30p.m. fire crews responded to a fire in a multi-family residence at 307 S.W. Harrison Street in Topeka, according to Fire Marshal Tod Harrison. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames showing from a second-story window of a two-story home.
Fire crews quickly contained and extinguished the flames. Two occupants inside the structure who were able to escape without injury.
The estimated dollar loss – $11,000; of which $10,000 is associated with structural damage and $1,000 is associated with content loss, according to Harrison.
No working smoke detectors were located within the structure, according to Harrison.
