A Texas man wanted in connection to the August 2020 shooting death of a Salina man is in custody, according to police.
Authorities in Texas arrested Jacob Martin Leos, 22, of Justin, on Jan. 11, according to Saline Police Captain Paul Forrester. He is one of four suspects being held in connection to the shooting death of Camilo Renaldo Ramirez on August. 23, near the intersection of Front Street and E. Iron Avenue in Salina.
Just after 4a.m. that morning, police, were dispatched to a report of gunshots and found Ramirez in the street. His dog was also found dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot, according to police.
Ramirez died in a Wichita hospital on Aug. 24. Later that week, police reported that three people had been arrested in connection to the case including Kiera Stewart, 22, of Salina, on requested charges of felony murder and attempted aggravated robbery.
Police arrested Jaime Leos, Jr., 24, of Salina, on requested charges of attempted first degree murder (later upgraded to first degree murder), felony animal cruelty, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and other narcotics related charges.
They also arrested Juan Doroteo Morales, 34, of Salina, on attempted first degree murder (later upgraded to first degree murder), felony animal cruelty, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Leos is being held in the Saline County Jail on requested charges of First degree murder, Aggravated assault with deadly weapon, Aggravated robbery, Animal cruelty, Criminal discharge of a firearm, Felony damage to property. The Kansas Attorney General's Office will be prosecuting the case.
