STAFFORD COUNTY—Crews were called to the report of a brush fire in the 1000 block of NE 190th Street in Stafford County on Monday, according to a media release.  Fire crews were on scene for approximately four and a half hours.

Cause of the fire was found to be a tree struck by lightning several days ago that finally fell, lighting the field on fire.

"We can't express enough how important it is that different departments work together," the department said on Facebook. "This is just another example of the citizens of all counties involved benefiting by a good working relationship with neighboring departments."

Stations that responded were Hudson, Seward, Radium and Stafford stations. Ellinwood Fire Department was requested for mutual aid. Rice County Fire Department also assisted.
