Inmate serving time for murder found dead in Kansas prison

EL DORADO, Kansas. – El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF) resident 41-year-old Binh Ly was found unresponsive in his cell and died Wednesday morning, June 28, 2023, at the facility. The cause of death is pending further investigation, as well as the results of an independent autopsy.

He was serving a sentence for one count of murder and one count of aggravated burglary from Sedgwick County and was admitted to KDOC on November 8, 2001.

Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI). The investigation is currently ongoing.
