Blue Jays and Lady Jays split with Emporia

Emporia and Junction City battled into overtime in boys basketball at the Shenk Gym Thursday night before the Blue Jays prevailed 60-54.

The Blue Jays hit a clutch basket in the lane late in the fourth quarter and Javon George added three free throws in the extra session to help Junction City to the win. Teammate Seth Clark hit four three-point shots in the win. Junction City rallied from five points down in the fourth quarter.

In the girls game Gracie Gilpin and Rebecca Snyder packed a one-two punch to lead Emporia past Junction City 62-23. Snyder scored 23 points and Gilpin 21. There was a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Junction City teams host Highland Park on Friday night. It will winter homecoming and senior night.
