Sheriff: Kan. driver accused of speeding had cocaine in the car

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations after a triffic stop.

Just after 11p.m. November 26, a K-9 Unit with the Shawnee County  Sheriff’s Office  conducted a traffic stop on a black 2017 Chevrolet Impala for speeding in  the 300 block of SE 29th Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had a  suspended driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest. Illegal narcotics, including cocaine, were  also located.

Leo Rucker Jr., 40, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of  Corrections on requested charges of Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Possession of marijuana, Speeding; maximum limits, Driving while license suspended, Vehicle liability insurance; knowingly drive uninsured vehicle and  Vehicles; operate vehicle without registration or with expired tag.
