RUSSELL COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after 5:30a.m. Sunday in Russell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1994 Chevy 1500 driven by Wad R. Dyer, 45, Dorrance, was westbound on U.S. 40 one mile east of Dorrance.
The pickup crossed eastbound lanes, entered the ditch, collided with a concrete bridge barrier, fell over the edge of the bridge and landed on its wheels in the ditch channel. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Dyer was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Pohlman Varner Peeler Mortuary. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
