MANHATTAN—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged theft by deception scam in Manhattan.

Just after 1:30p.m.&nbsp; Friday, officers filed a report for theft by deception in the 1000 block of Houston Street in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

An 80-year-old man reported an unknown suspect scammed them by pretending to work for the lottery.&nbsp; The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,900.00, according to the RCPD.

Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
