Investigation of gunfire at Kan. high school football game continues

WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities continue  investigating an incident that occurred at Wyandotte High School after a suspect shot at a USD 500 police officer.

Just before 9:30p.m. Friday, police responded to Wyandotte High School, 2500 Minnesota, after shots were fired during the football game, according to a media release from Kansas City, Kansas police.

At the scene, police learned that with one minute left in the game, two unknown suspects approached the entrance to the field from outside the stadium and began shooting toward a USD 500 police officer standing at the gate.

The officer returned fire until the suspects fled north to a vehicle and fled. Late Friday police had not reported anyone struck by gunfire. 
Detectives with Kansas City, Kansas Police continue their investigation.
