
KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a fatal officer involved shooting near Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a disturbance at an apartment building near 11600 E. Truman Road in the city of Independence, Missouri, according to a media release.
Officers observed a man alone in the back seat of a car and made contact with him. According to police, the man became aggressive and pulled out a gun. Officers told the man to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, officers shot him.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his name or if he was involved in the initial disturbance. The Jackson County Police-Involved Incident Team is in charge of the investigation.
