BARTON COUNTY —Five bald eagles, three adults and two immature birds, were spotted Monday morning on the southern edge of Cheyenne Bottoms, just northeast of Great Bend, according to the Kansas Wetlands Education Center.
"Winter is a great time to look for eagles at Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, where they feed on fish and sick and injured geese and ducks. Generally, large numbers can be seen in both areas through March."
