
SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after an arrest.
On April 27, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received information on where an individual with a federal arrest warrant for felon in possession of a firearm was located, according to Sheriff Brian Hill.
An on scene investigation confirmed that the individual was staying at a hotel in the 3700 block of SW Topeka Boulevard.
The United States Marshals Service Task Force Officer from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Unit assisted with the arrest of 32-year-old Martwan L. Cay of Topeka.
During the execution of a subsequent search warrant initiated by the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Unit, officers found a handgun, ammunition, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and pills believed to contain fentanyl.
Cay was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the federal arrest warrant. He also faces charges of felony interference, felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of opiates, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
