Police ID victim in Kansas City convenience store shooting

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement investigating a homicide at a Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 41-year-old Craig Washington, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

Just after 8:30p.m. Tuesday, police officers were dispatched to a shooting at a convenience store in the 7000 Block of Prospect, according to Becchina.

Officers were led inside the store where they located Washington unresponsive on the ground. Officers rendered aid and called for EMS to come to the scene. EMS pronounced Washington deceased at the scene.

 Preliminary information indicates that there were numerous people inside the store when Washington and a suspect or suspects had an interaction that escalated, eventually to gunfire, which struck Washington.

Police are making progress in the identifying a suspect, according to Becchina.
