Body found after explosion at Kansas home

NEOSHO COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a house explosion in Neosho County.

Just after 7a.m. on May 21, fire crews responded to report of a fire at a home at 1420 South Evergreen in Chanute, according to a media release.

At the scene fire officials determined the house was not on fire and there had been an explosion. The south wall of the home had been blown out and there was significant damage to the other outside walls and roof.

Crews installed struts and were able to shore up the home to make it safe for firefighters to enter.

During a search, fire crews found a body. The Kansas State Fire Marshal, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded to collect evidence. Authorities have not released additional details.
