Kan. man dies after being ejected from Jeep during chase, crash

SEWARD COUNTY — One person died in an accident during just after 8:30p.m. Saturday in Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Seward County was in pursuit of a 2006 Jeep Liberty driven by  Carlos Garcia-Alamos, 34, Liberal, on County Road 13 seven miles north and three miles east of the Kansas 53 and U.S. 83 Junction.

The driver  failed to navigate a right turn on County Road 13 and entered the east ditch. The Jeep overturned once and the driver was ejected.

EMS transported Garcia-Alamos to Southwest Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released details on what prompted the chase. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
